EKHON | UKHRUL: Joining the rest of the world, the Women Cell of St Joseph College, Ukhrul celebrated International Women’s Day under the theme “Inspire Inclusion”. It marked the day with a pledge to provide free sanitary pads to the female students in the college by the Women Cell.
The prestigious event began with the introductory speech and words of welcome by Sr. Regin (SABS. Speaking on the occasion, Fr. Joseph Thohrii, Vice Principal lauded the tremendous contribution and service of women to our society especially who inspire us with their courage, determination and unwavering spirit. He specially acknowledged the commendable dedication of the lady teaching faculty members in shaping young minds and bringing forth responsible citizens for our society.
While female students from different departments gave speeches on topics such as “Women Empowerment”, “Gender Equality”, and “Role of Women in Society”. Sareo Leiyachon, Asst. Professor and In-charge Women Cell, highlighted the significance of the day and the need to keep the spirit of this day alive every day. The day also saw other performances like songs and choreography.
On the occasion, ENFOGAL, an NGO based in Ukhrul, donated badminton kits to the Women Cell to promote sports among the female students in the college.
