Ukhrul, 24 October 2025 – The Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Asish Das, IAS, has expressed gratitude to the people of Ukhrul, Civil Society Organisations, Program Organisers, and Volunteers for their outstanding efforts in maintaining the town’s cleanliness and hygiene following the Homecoming Ceremony of Thuingaleng Muivah, Ato Kilonser NSCN/GPRN on 22nd October 2025.
In a letter, DC Asish Das, IAS, commended the community’s selflessness and sense of responsibility, stating that their actions have set an example for others to follow. “Your contributions have not gone unnoticed. You have set a remarkable example for others to follow, and I am confident that your actions will inspire a sense of civic responsibility in our community,” he wrote.
The Tangkhul Leihsak Long undertook a major clean-up drive, clearing garbage and waste along the stretch from Ukhrul Headquarters Ground to Dungrei Junction. According to Ngathingpam Ronrei, the clean-up drive manned by 30 people has yielded impressive results, with one garbage truck of waste collected from a 2.5 km stretch. The collected waste included thousands of water bottles, chocolate wraps, juice packs, and other disposable items, highlighting the massive scale of the effort.
DC Asish Das, IAS, extended his gratitude and appreciation to each and every one of them for their invaluable contributions, stating that their efforts have made Ukhrul proud.
Tens of thousands of people gathered at the Ukhrul district headquarter ground to witness the historic homecoming of Th. Muivah, who returned to his birthplace after an absence of over 50 years.
