Ukhrul: The much-awaited Travelling Book Fair, organised by Book Culture, Northeast in collaboration with Ishi, has begun at Sentinel College, Phungreitang, Ukhrul, Manipur. The six-day event, from December 18 to 23, 2025, is open to the public from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm with free entry.
The fair boasts a diverse range of titles across genres, including fiction, non-fiction, children’s literature, academic books, self-development, and popular reads, catering to readers of all age groups. To make books more accessible, the fair offers an attractive deal of ₹399 per kilo, along with a “Buy 2 Get 1 Free” offer.


The initiative aims to promote reading culture and improve access to books in hill and remote regions of Northeast India, especially among students and young readers. The event has drawn large crowds on its opening day, with students, educators, parents, and book enthusiasts showing strong interest.
Organisers are optimistic that the fair will encourage reading habits and create a vibrant literary atmosphere in the region, providing a much-needed respite from the challenges faced by the community. The Travelling Book Fair is expected to draw more visitors over the next few days, spreading the joy of reading across Ukhrul and nearby areas.
