Ukhrul, Manipur | EKHON: A proposed 72-hour blockade of National Highway-202 in Ukhrul, Manipur, has been called off after the National Highway 202 Development Committee met with district authorities. The committee, representing Hungpung, Shangshak Phunghon, Shangshak Khullen, and Hatha villages, had threatened to block the highway from February 4-6 over unpaid land compensation and stalled project works at NH-202.
The meeting, held at Majesty Cafe Hungpung, included DC Ukhrul Ashis Das, Manager PMU/Ukhrul Salman Khan, and committee members. Authorities assured the committee that all demands regarding NH-202, Package-3, and Package-4 would be met by February.
“The district authority has given full assurance to provide all the demands regarding NH-202, PKG-3 & PKG 4,” the committee stated. If demands aren’t met, the committee can resume the blockade indefinitely.
