Awareness campaign on Viral Conjunctivitis held for School teachers

Ukhrul: Following the outbreak and rise of contagious eye flu in Ukhrul, awareness campaign on safety and preventive measures of Viral Conjunctivitis for school teachers was organized by Integrated Disease surveillance program (IDSP), Ukhrul District Hospital along with Zonal Education Office (ZEO), Ukhrul at Ukhrul Higher Secondary School Hall on Wednesday.

Around 78 teachers from 18 Private and Government schools of Ukhrul attended the awareness campaign.

Dr. Wonyao Kasar, Eye Specialist, District Hospital as the resource person shared in detail the symptoms, spread and prevention of the viral conjunctivitis.

Thaimei Badan, MES, ZEO, Ukhrul District strongly urged the teachers to take proper measure in controlling the spread of the viral.

Meanwhile, Dr. Thotreichon J, District Surveillance Officer, Ukhrul Distict urgently appealed to whoever is suffering from viral conjunctivitis to consult the doctor and take strict preventive measures to curb further spread of the viral conjunctivitis.

As of Thursday, 102 cases of viral conjunctivitis was reported in the District as per the report provided by Dr. Thotreichon J.

Cases of viral conjunctivitis was reportedly detected in the district hospital as early as June this year.
