Ukhrul, 11 November: EAST, the acclaimed label by Tangkhul Naga designer Easternlight Zimik, unveiled its latest collection titled “PATRON” to an enthralled international audience in Seoul, Korea. The showcase was organized by the North East Institute of Fashion Technology (NEIFT) as part of the 21st Edition of Celebrating India, held on 6th and 7th November in Seoul, Republic of Korea. The event was supported by the Embassy of India in Seoul, the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Korea, and the Korea Federation of Textile Industries.
Under the visionary leadership of Vikram Rai Medhi, Founder of NEIFT and Director of the Celebrating India Festival, the platform continues to highlight India’s rich cultural and creative diversity on the global stage.
Held in Textile Centre, Gangnam Gu, Seoul, Zimik’s PATRON collection, rooted in the traditions of Tangkhul tribal community in Northeast India yet crafted with a contemporary global lens, offered a striking narrative on identity, resilience, and craftsmanship.
Blending tribal motifs, natural textiles, and structured modern silhouettes, the collection paid homage to Zimik’s heritage while reflecting the evolving dialogue between tradition and innovation. The runway featured earthy tones juxtaposed with bold textures, handwoven fabrics, and symbolic beadwork—each piece telling a story of community and continuity.
“Patron Collection”, Zimik said, “is a heartfelt tribute to our clients who have supported and encouraged us throughout our journey. This collection draws inspiration from our previous works, weaving together patterns, motifs, and ideas from past collections to create something deeply personal and evolved.
The showcase also highlighted EAST’s commitment to ethical sourcing and sustainable production, reinforcing the brand’s philosophy of fashion as both art and advocacy.
Zimik’s presence in South Korea marks the expanding influence of designers from India’s Northeast region in the global fashion ecosystem. The PATRON showcase not only cemented Zimik’s position as a leading creative force but also celebrated the vitality and sophistication of indigenous craftsmanship on an international platform.
