EKHON | UKHRUL: Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Minister Khashim Vashum emphasizes the need for awareness about livestock insurance among hill district farmers, including those in Ukhrul and Kamjong, to help them tap into its benefits. He was attending the unveiling ceremony of the Ukhrul Piggery Farmers-Producers Company Ltd (UPFPO) as Chief Guest at Ukhrul town hall on Tuesday.

He encouraged hill district farmers to utilize the scheme, which offers a subsidized premium payment structure, requiring only 20% of the insured amount, with the central and state governments covering 50% and 30% respectively.
Vashum emphasized the crucial role of the Veterinary Department in supporting farmers and urged district-level officers to ensure successful implementation of initiatives. He highlighted the launch of 33 veterinary mobile ambulances, including in Ukhrul and Kamjong, to protect livestock and support local farmers.
