Ukhrul, Manipur: The Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) has expressed outrage over the government’s inaction on ensuring safety along the NH-202 Imphal-Ukhrul Road. The group’s 24-hour ultimatum has expired, and they’re calling for a mass protest on March 21, 2026, at Litan, citing “neglect” and “injustice”.
“We will not accept fear. We will not accept neglect. We will not accept injustice. Our safety, our dignity and our rights are non-negotiable,” said TKS in a strongly-worded statement.
TKS spokesperson stated, “The government’s continued silence is a direct assault on the dignity and rights of the people. It’s a failure of governance.” They’re urging citizens to join the protest, adding, “If those responsible fail to act, the people will.”
The student apex body is urging ‘all civil society organisations, community leaders and the general public to stand in solidarity and join a mass democratic procession to be held on 21st March, 2026 at Litan.’
The body questions the government’s commitment to safeguarding citizens, given the lack of assurance on safety and free movement along the troubled road.
