EKHON | UKHRUL: The District Administration of Ukhrul, Manipur joined the rest of the country in celebrating the 75th Republic Day at Bakshi Ground, Ukhrul today. Deputy Commissioner Zuringla Kengoo, IAS unfurled the tri-national flag of India accompanied by singing of national anthem in the presence of SP Ukhrul Ningsem Vashum MPS, Parade Commander Ringthing Hongchui,MPS, Additional SP, DLOs, Invitees and public.
Addressing the gathering DC Zuringla Kengoo recalled this day 75years ago in 1950 when the constitution of India came into effect proclaiming our country as a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic. She reflected on the journey of struggle and sacrifice which eventually led to victory from the British colonial rule.
Altogether 28 contingents participated in the march pass and seven cultural performances namely Ngainga Cultural Dance Troupe, Ukhrul District Karate Kid, Assam Rifles Public School, Hungpung Haokok Thang-Ta Academy, Model High School, Halang Baptist Church Mission School and Pam’s KinderGarden were presented.
The district administration also gave away Appreciation Certificates to as many as 125 employees from various department for their comendable services rendered during the last calender year. First prize for the march pass was adjudged to Savio High School Girls contingent, second went to Ukhrul Public School girls contingent and the third was awarded to Little Angel’s English School Girls contingent.
As part of the celebration, the district headquarter was decorated with gates at various locations. The event was weaned off with a vote of thanks from ADM Nimmi Azingwungshi Khamrang MCS..
