Veikhang Katamnao Long commemorates 78th Naga Independence Day

EKHON |UKHRUL: On the occasion of the 78th Naga Independence Day, the Veikhang Katamnao Long held a commemorative ceremony at Choithar village, in solidarity with Nagas across the region. The event was dignified by the presence of Lieutenant General (Retired) N.G. Markson, VC, as the Chief Guest, and Colonel Yaomi Mashangva, MSM, as the Guest of Honor.

Lieutenant General (Retired) N.G. Markson, VC, addressed the crowd, urging collective action in pursuit of the national movement’s goals and recounting the history of the struggle for independence, emphasizing the importance of unity in the fight for freedom.”

Our forefathers laid the foundation for the Naga nation through immense sacrifice, enduring unimaginable hardships and struggles, and shedding ‘blood, sweat, and tears’ to pave the way for our people’s future, said the Naga Army officer.

Even after 78 years, our courage and spirit of freedom remain unwavering, despite the heavy price we’ve paid for our love of liberty. We must continue to struggle and defend our freedom, lest we risk losing our identity and becoming a forgotten people, urged N.G. Markson to the gathering.

During the ceremony, 54 dedicated national workers from the Veikhang Area were honored and recognized for their selfless sacrifices in protecting and defending our beloved motherland.
