Veikhang Katamnao Long distribute water to students appearing Board Exam

Date:

EKHON | UKHRUL: As Ukhrul continue to reel under acute water scarcity, Veikhang Katamnao Long (VKL) distributed 500 litres of water each to at least 30 students from Veikhang area who are appearing for board examination (HSLC and HSE) through the assistance of PHED, informed Wungnaokhan AC, VP Veikhang Katamnao Long.

The much-needed help from Veikhang Katamnao Long and PHED has been received with open arm by the students, calling it a selfless help.

Expressing their gratitude, Pamsing A. Chihui, Class 12 student of KTL Excel Hr Sec School said, “With utmost respect, I on behalf of all the students appearing matric and class 12 students extend my sincere gratitude to the Veikhang Katamnao Long and the PHED Dept. for providing us clean drinking water in our crucial time. We are forever indebted to the VKL and the PHED dept for their timely help.”

While the entire community in the headquarter town suffered the brunt of acute water scarcity, it is the student community that seemed to be the most affected. Many of them migrated from villages and take rented accommodation and they struggled each day to fetch water from far off pond for their daily use wasting their valuable time that would have otherwise spent studying.

During examinations, it is even harder for the students to maintain their time between studying and managing their chores including fetching water. The mobile vehicle and water tanker did not help either as the cost of water is expensive and almost impossible for students who migrated from villages to afford on regular basis.
