Ukhrul, 27 October 2025: Thuingaleng Muivah, Ato Kilonser of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN)/ Government of People’s Republic of Nagalim has reaffirmed the Naga people’s commitment to their demand for sovereignty, citing the Framework Agreement signed with the Indian government in 2015.
Speaking at the Gethsemane Prayer Centre in Somdal, Ukhrul, on October 27, 2025, Muivah emphasized that the Nagas will not surrender their history or compromise on their demand for sovereignty. “Our history is clearly written, and the Indians knew but they started giving ultimatums. We were forced to tell them, come what may, we will stand our ground,” Muivah said.
Muivah’s statement underscores the Naga people’s determination to assert their rights and identity. The Framework Agreement, signed in 2015, aimed to resolve the Naga issue, but negotiations have been ongoing, with disagreements over key issues, including the Naga flag and constitution.
The Naga leader’s reaffirmation of their stand comes amid delay in negotiations between the NSCN and the Indian government. Muivah’s visit to Somdal, his birthplace, after over 60 years, has been seen as a significant moment in the Naga peace process. It also reignites the movement
