Archbishop Linus Neli opens College Week of St. Joseph College, Ukhrul

EKHON| UKHRUL: St. Joseph College, Ukhrul, marked the grand inauguration of its College Week 2024 with a vibrant ceremony held on Monday. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Rev. Dr. Linus Neli D.D, Archbishop of Imphal, who attended as the Chief Guest. The other dignitaries present were head of catholic institutions from the region.

The week-long celebration, an annual highlight for the college, opened with a welcome address by Principal Fr. Dr. Parvis John who highlighted the significance of College Week as an opportunity for students to showcase their talents in various fields, including sports, cultural activities, and academic competitions. He also thanked the Archbishop for his continued support and guidance to the institution.

In his inauguration speech, Rev. Dr. Linus Neli D.D commended the institution for its commitment to academic excellence and holistic development. In his speech, he emphasised the importance of education in fostering both intellectual and moral growth in students. He encouraged the young minds to strive for excellence not only in academics but also in values, urging them to be responsible citizens and contribute to the welfare of society. He also congratulated the management and the faculty members for producing toppers in university examinations conducted by the Manipur University.

The inauguration ceremony was brought to life with a vibrant Rongmei Traditional Harvest song and dance performance by students and faculty members, showcasing the college’s diverse talent and enthusiasm. Nimyophy Mahung then took the stage, delivering an electrifying cover of Shakira’s iconic hit “Waka Waka. The eventful day unfolded with an array of exciting competitions, including Choir, Duet, Declamation, Choreography. The festivities will continue throughout the week, featuring literary competitions, sports events, and cultural performances.

Fr. Joseph Thohrii delivered a Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the tireless efforts of students and faculty members whose dedication made the event a resounding success. He also expressed sincere gratitude to judges, special guests, media personnels and others.

College Week 2024 is set to conclude on October 26, with a closing ceremony and prize distribution for the event winners.
