Tangkhul Catholic Youth Gather for 33rd General Assembly, 5th Inter-Parish Sports Meet

EKHON | UKHRUL: The youths of Tangkhul Catholic Youth Federation (TCYF) is igniting the spirit of competition at the ongoing General Assembly cum Sports Meet, scheduled from October 9-12 at Holy Spirit Church, Longpi Kajui, Ukhrul District. Under the theme “Run in such a way as to get the prize,” the three-day extravaganza featured contests, including choir competitions, football and volleyball tournaments, showcasing the talents of Tangkhul Catholic youth.

In his thought-provoking theme exegesis, Dr. Rev. Fr. TS Dominic underscored the vital importance of empowering youth. “For a strong church tomorrow, you must exercise, commit, and sacrifice today,” he shared.

He reminded them that they are the architects of the church’s future. That they need to strengthen themselves through dedication and hard work is crucial and to embrace challenges and sacrifices to equip them for tomorrow’s responsibilities.

Brilliantson Kashung, President of TCYF, emphasized unity amidst challenges, stating that our faith remains unwavering, even in the face of challenges. He outlined the assembly’s agenda and highlighted the sports events that included football and volleyball tournaments for men and women.

He added that what matters most is not winning, but the act of participating itself and further extended best wishes to all participants.

Around 1000 youths from 9 parishes are participating in the event. The Church leaders, priests, elders, and catechists are rallying behind the youths for the success of the General Assembly cum Sports Meet.
