Chakhesang Region Reaffirms Support Amid NSCN Developments

Date:

Kohima, July 15 | EKHON: Amid ongoing political developments within the NSCN/GPRN, the Chakhesang Region has publicly reaffirmed its support for the organization’s collective leadership and reiterated its commitment to the Framework Agreement and the core political principles of the Naga national movement.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, Mhaseveo Rhakho, Secretary of the Chakhesang Region, NSCN/GPRN stated that it continues to uphold the declaration adopted on 15 July 2025, in which the House unanimously expressed confidence in the collective leadership of President Q. Tuccu, Vice President Tongmeth Wangnao, Ato Kilonser Th. Muivah, and Deputy Ato Kilonser V.S. Atem. The Region emphasized that the mandate adopted by its House remains valid and continues to represent the collective will of the Chakhesang Region.

The statement comes at a time when the NSCN/GPRN has been navigating internal political challenges and competing claims to legitimacy within sections of the organization. Against this backdrop, the Chakhesang Region sought to project stability by setting the importance of collective leadership, unity, and institutional continuity.

Reiterating its political position, the Region declared its unwavering support for the Framework Agreement, the Naga National Flag, the Yehzabo (Constitution), and the longstanding aspiration of Naga Integration. It described these as the enduring political foundations of the Naga movement and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting what it termed the historical and political rights of the Naga people.

The Region further stressed that unity, mutual trust, and collective responsibility remain indispensable at a critical stage in the Naga peace process. It appealed to national workers, leaders, and the wider Naga public to rise above personal and organizational differences in the interest of reconciliation and national unity.

“At this crucial juncture in Naga history, collective commitment and unwavering dedication to the common cause are essential for securing a future that honours the sacrifices and aspirations of our people,” the statement said.
