Expiry Goods Worth 2.5 lakh Seized From Shops

Date:

EKHON | UKHRUL: Goods worth Rs. 2.5 lakh was seized, destroyed and fined following the routine check of shops and enterprises under Hungpung village jurisdiction by the Thawaijao Hungpung Young Students’ Organization (THYSO) team on Tuesday.

The search operation covered shops from Hungpung Dungrei Junction to Thingrasa, Ukhrul district headquarter town. The Hungpung student apex body also visited hotels and restaurants to take stock of the hygiene of the kitchen and the overall hygiene management of the eateries, said Shanching Yanao, THYSO Information Secretary.

Following the inspection, the THYSO urged shopkeepers and hotel owners to be responsible and accountable traders/businessmen and do their utmost to satisfy customers’ need. It appealed the owners not to sell expiry products and keep themselves updated about what they are selling. The student body warned that if the shop owners defy their appeal, strict action will be taken over those shops and enterprises.
