Manipur BJP MLAs camping in New Delhi

Ukhrul, June 17, 2023: With a crisis that refused to slow down in one of the worst ever ethnic conflict in Manipur, BJP MLAs and an independent candidate supporting BJP government is currently camping at New Delhi.

As many as 6 legislators including, BJP MLAs Dr Y Radheshyam, Karam Shyam, T Robindro, Kh Raghumani, T Brojen, S Kebi Devi and an Independent MLA Nishikanta Sapam are camping in New Delhi since Friday for an appointment with PM Modi.

“We are seeking an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and we have got a slot for either today or tomorrow. We are waiting for the final confirmation call from PM’s office,” said Heirok AC MLA Thokchom Radheshyam, who is part of the team.

Emphasizing on their reason to meet PM, Radheshyam said on phone that they plan to make a special request to PM Modi to take all possible steps to restore peace in the conflict-hit Manipur as soon as possible.

He stressed that “young boys and girls who will be our future have no future now because there is no education and communication. Our economy has been affected and people who are in the relief camps are suffering due to approaching raining season. Also, dead bodies are lying at the morgue.”

He felt that it is up to the central leadership to decide whether to impose President’s Rule or not but we want peace in the state at the earliest.

Meanwhile, a delegation led by Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Satyabrata and social welfare minister H Dingo Singh are also said to be in Delhi since Friday.

Another representatives of 10 parties are reportedly stationed at the Capital with an intention to seek intervention from PM Modi to restore peace and normalcy in the troubled-torn state.
