Hebron, July 19 | EKHON: The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) has clarified that four civilians detained during a security operation carried out by the Assam Rifles in Sikibung/Sharkaphung, TM Kasom and Lungphu have no affiliation with the organisation.
The four civilians, residents of Sharkaphung, Wungphayo Kasar, 24, son of Yurthan Kasar; A. S. Ninglum, 29, son of A. S. Hopeson; Yaoreingam Lungleng, 24, son of Makanmi Lungleng; and Vareiyo Lungleng, 56, son of Tuifa Lungleng, were taken on July 14 during the operation and remained in the custody of state forces. According to information available, they are reportedly being held at Porompat Police Station.
In a clarification statement issued from Hebron on July 19, the NSCN-GPRN stated that none of the four individuals are members, associates or representatives of the organisation. The statement sought to clarify that the four persons, who were detained in the course of the security operation, are civilians and have no connection with the NSCN.
The circumstances surrounding their detention and continued custody remain unclear. The detention of the four civilians has raised questions about their current legal status and the circumstances of their continued custody.
