NSCN/GPRN Condemns Deadly Attack in Bitiang

Date:

Hebron, July 29 | EKHON: The NSCN/GPRN has strongly condemned the deadly and unprovoked attack on volunteers of the Western Command of the Naga Village Guard and the Joint Tribes Council Manipur (JTCM) in Bitiang village. The organization alleged that the operation involved the Zeliangrong United Front (Jiangchui) and personnel from the CoBRA battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

The incident also resulted in the death of a Naga Village Guard member and called it a grave assault on the security and rights of the indigenous Naga community.

According to the statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), the deceased Village Guard was defending Bitiang village when the attack occurred on July 29. The NSCN/GPRN alleged that the involvement of CoBRA units alongside the armed group raised serious concerns over the neutrality and accountability of India’s security forces.

NSCN-GPRN also expressed condolences to the family of the deceased Village Guard and called him as a martyr who laid down his life while protecting his village and community. It offered prayers for the bereaved family and paid tribute to the deceased’s service.
