New Delhi, Aug. 16 | EKHON: The Naga Students’ Union, Delhi (NSUD) has strongly condemned the armed attack on Langka (Taniuluang) Naga Village in Kangpokpi district on August 13, in which two civilians were killed and two others injured.

According to the statement, NSUD said the attack was carried out by armed cadres of the Kuki National Front (P), reportedly led by Jangboi Kipgen. It expressed deep concern over the recurrence of attacks on Naga civilians and villages, saying violence against unarmed civilians posed a serious threat to human life, dignity and communal security.

“The protection of civilians cannot be compromised under any circumstances,” the student body said, while calling for an unequivocal condemnation of violence directed against civilians.

The NSUD conveyed its condolences to the bereaved families of Chawang and Abonmai and expressed solidarity with the people of Langka Naga Village. It also wished the injured civilians a speedy recovery and urged the authorities to ensure that they receive immediate and adequate medical treatment.

The student organisation called upon the Government of India and the Government of Manipur to take prompt and effective measures to strengthen security in Naga villages and prevent further attacks.

It further demanded a credible, impartial and time-bound investigation into the incident, with those found responsible brought to justice in accordance with the law.

The NSUD stressed that the protection of civilian life, dignity and security must remain paramount, warning that violence against civilians should neither be normalised nor tolerated.
