Sinakeithei Condemns Violent Attacks, Demands Immediate Action

Date:

Ukhrul, Manipur | EKHON; The Sinakeithei Village Authority in Ukhrul District of Manipur has issued a press statement strongly condemning a series of violent attacks that occurred within their territorial jurisdiction today, February 23, 2026. The statement details a coordinated attack involving arson, abduction, and gunfire, which has left the community shaken.

“These acts of arson, attempted murder, abduction, and firing upon unarmed civilians pose a direct threat to the safety, security, and peaceful existence of our community,” said the Sinakeithei Village Authority in a statement. “We urgently call upon the concerned civil administration and security forces to take immediate action, conduct a thorough investigation, and ensure adequate protection to prevent further escalation.”

According to the statement, arsonists in a white Bolero vehicle set fire to the Lungter Hill Range, while a Kuki armed group abducted a local farmer, Aseng Awungshi, and fired upon Kingson Muivah, causing panic among villagers.

The Sinakeithei Village Authority said they remained committed to safeguarding the lives, land, and dignity of its people. The violence in Sinakeithei Village may perhaps be linked to the ongoing unrest in Litan, which started on February 8, 2026. The Litan incident saw several houses burned, sparking tensions in the region.
