NSCN/GPRN Slams ‘Barbaric’ Killings, Demands Terror Tag for Kuki Militants

Date:

Dimapur, June 10 | EKHON: The National Socialist Council of Nagalim/Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (NSCN/GPRN) on Wednesday strongly condemned the alleged killing and mutilation of victims by Kuki militant groups and Kuki Village Volunteers, describing the acts as “barbaric” and “heinous,” and called on the Government of India to formally designate the accused groups as terrorist organizations.

In a statement released through its Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), the NSCN/GPRN alleged that the acts constituted crimes against humanity and represented a grave violation of human dignity. The organization stated that even during periods of conflict, the dead must be treated with dignity and respect, and condemned the alleged desecration of bodies as an attempt to spread fear and inflict psychological trauma on affected families and communities.

The NSCN/GPRN urged the Government of India to formally designate the accused groups as terrorist organizations, arguing that the alleged targeting of civilians, extreme violence, and desecration of the dead meet internationally recognized definitions of terrorism.

“The deliberate targeting of civilians, the use of extreme violence to terrorize the public, and the desecration of the dead constitute clear acts of terrorism by any global standard,” the statement said.

The organization further warned that failure to take decisive action against the groups could embolden future violence and undermine prospects for peace and justice in the region.

The statement also criticized Indian security forces, alleging discriminatory treatment toward Naga communities. According to the NSCN/GPRN, security personnel have acted against women protesters, student activists, and village guards while allegedly failing to prevent attacks on Naga civilians. The organization further claimed that some security agencies are perceived by sections of the public as facilitating the activities of Kuki militant groups.

The NSCN/GPRN questioned whether such actions were consistent with the constitutional obligations of the Government of India to ensure justice, equality, and protection for all citizens.

Expressing condolences to the families of the victims, the organization pledged to continue pursuing accountability for those responsible for the alleged killings. “We express our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and stand in solidarity with all those affected by this horrific act,” the statement said.
