Kamjong, Sept 25 | EKHON: Four Tangkhul Naga villagers, including a father and his son, were killed in an alleged cross-border attack at Pilong near the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur’s Kamjong district on Thursday, with the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) accusing Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) cadres and allied armed groups of carrying out the assault.
According to the TNL, heavily armed militants crossed the Namya River from Myanmar and attacked civilians at Pilong, a hamlet under Kangpat Khullen, around 1.30 pm. Two villagers were allegedly shot dead at the settlement, while two others were reportedly abducted and killed after being taken across the border.

A fifth resident, Akhan Kaping of Hunphun, reportedly escaped and was later rescued by Tangkhul civil society volunteers.
The TNL described the incident as a major cross-border assault on Naga civilians and alleged that the attack was carried out by KNA-B cadres and other armed Kuki groups operating from Myanmar, with support from the People’s Defence Force (PDF).
The killings have renewed concerns over the security of Naga settlements along the porous Indo-Myanmar border. The TNL said Thursday’s attack was the third reported cross-border assault on Naga villages in Kamjong this year, following incidents reported in May and July.
The organisation also accused the State government and border security forces, including the Assam Rifles, of failing to adequately protect vulnerable border communities despite repeated warnings from Naga civil society organisations.
The incident comes amid continuing security concerns along Manipur’s international frontier, where remote settlements remain exposed to armed movement across the border.
At the time of filing this report, post-mortem examination is underway. A public condolence will be held later this afternoon at Kamjong Town Hall.
