Ukhrul, 23 May 2023: New Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul district, Zuringla Kengoo said Ukhrul needs to revisit our priorities and find out where to place our focus as she began his first official duty in Ukhrul Mini Secretariat on Monday. She is the first female DC and only second Tangkhul to be placed in Ukhrul district.
When asked about her priority, Zuringla told Ekhon she wanted to focus on development especially in education that will produce good leadership and abled administration in the community. Adding that Ukhrul is known for producing intelligent leadership, the 56 year-old wanted to place emphasis on bringing back former glory of Tangkhul in terms of quality education and strong leadership.
Youths in Ukhrul has various opportunity but if we have quality education, we will have power of choice, she mused.
The IAS said it is indeed a pleasure to be placed at your own home district, at the same time there ought to be a lot of expectation from people too, however I will do the best I can under the given provision, she said.
Having said that, Zuringla felt she will need a lot of support and coordination from concerned stakeholders and if we were to work together for the betterment of the district, we will need mutual support from each other. That’s the important part, she said.
Zuringla was inducted to IAS in 2012. Before she is posted as a DC, Ukhrul, she had worked in different capacities like DC (Kamjong), DC (Kakching), Addl. Secy and DC Kangpokpi.
