EKHON | UKHRUL: With only a week away from the general election to 18th Lok Sabha Election, Addl. Chief Electoral Officer of 2-Outer Manipur Parliamentary Assembly Constituency N. Praveen Singh, IAS. along with K. Bono, Joint Secretary, Election department visited Ukhrul and convened meetings with DC/DEO Ukhrul and DC/DEO Kamjong combined to examine the status of the preparation for two assembly segments in Ukhrul and 1 assembly segment in Kamjong at DC Conference Hall, Ukhrul today.
The Press statement from DIO, Ukhrul said the meeting was attended by all the Nodal Officers of both the districts and presented PPT on the allotted works. They include manpower, training, computerization, material management, SVEEP, Law & Order, EVM, MCC, Expenditure, Ballot& ETPBS, Media, Communication plan, Electoral rolls, Complaint Redressal & Voter Helpline among others. According to Nodal officer transport for Ukhrul District which has two assembly segments reported the required vehicles both heavy and light are 414 out of which 353 has been requisitioned. The remaining 61 would be ready soon. In reference to Law & Order, it is reported that 17 poll stations have been identified as critical, 48 as vulnerable and 80 are normal for the two segments in Ukhrul district which has 145 poll stations altogether. The total security personnel to be deployed are 13 companies from central forces (10BSF Coy & 3CISF Coy) and 547 police & 357 VDF/ HG from the state.
The police department of the district so far are able to seize 761ltrs IMFL (whiskey/Rum/Beer) worth rs 3.51lakhs and 1675ltrs of DIC (local) worth rs. 3.36 lakhs and 100 khd of yeast worth rs.6000. Vehicular fines under MV Act is rs.4000 and cash seizure in connection with FIR case is rs. 13,11,130. The police are able to seize 3 arms, 204 amunitions/catridges and 1 explosive so far. On the other hand, Kamjong which has 1 assembly segment has 14 women and 1 model polling stations out of the total 78 polling stations. The district will deploy 312 polling personnel and utilise 261vehicles both heavy and light. The two districts will go to polls on 26 April.
